Commonly referred to as Rie. When given the chance, he introduces himself as a military officer who wields ice magic. He begins as an incredibly straitlaced, diligent to a fault man who later warms up after meeting Taka. The pair is happily married to each other.

Initially, people perceived Rie as cold and comes off as arrogant. He is strict with time and dislikes people who keep him waiting. He often scolds his subordinates who slack off, but never fires them.
In truth, he is just awkward at expressing his emotions. He dislikes being a bother to anyone and expects the same from other people. Unfortunately because of his harsh speech pattern and the constant frown on his face, people always think he's angry. Beneath his cold exterior, he is a simple man who finds joy in wisdom.
Once Takayuki helped him clear the misunderstanding he had at work, he begins to practice on expressing himself properly. He can freely laugh and smile when around Takayuki, but he is still trying to appear less frightening to other people.
He sees the world as a colorful place and accepts the difference in people. He is very forgiving, though not many know this. While he highly values order, he is a romantic at heart and would abandon his task (albeit with complex feelings) to help his loved one. If he had to choose between the world and his partner, he would likely try to save both.
During spring, he sees life returning to view and during winter he sees people trying to huddle for warmth.
